On the 7th July, in Pescara, the closing ceremony of the 51st edition of the Flaiano International Awards took place. A true Italian heritage event that celebrates art and culture with genuine passion. These awards, founded in 1973 by Edoardo Tiboni to honor his friend Ennio Flaiano, are a perpetual homage to Italian creativity and ingenuity.
Tiboni, a tireless cultural promoter who directed RAI Abruzzo for 35 years and founded numerous cultural institutions. He wanted to celebrate Flaiano, a prolific writer, screenwriter, and journalist known for his irony and sharp wit. Flaiano left an indelible mark on Italian culture, also thanks to his collaborations with directors such as Federico Fellini.
Ennio Flaiano
In an era where innovation and tradition blend, we are thrilled to have brought Ennio Flaiano “to life” again with our Artificial Intelligence. Fifty years after his passing, Flaiano’s avatar came to life on stage, making several appearances throughout the evening. His virtual presence accompanied the awarding of the “Pegaso d’Oro,” reminding us of the timeless value of his words. As Flaiano himself said, “Courage, the best is past.” This aphorism, with its irony and wisdom, encourages us to look forward with creativity, using technology to keep his voice and thoughts alive.
Culture and art are among the cornerstones of Italy, and contributing to the celebration of these excellences is a great honor for us. We deeply believe in the close interconnection between Creativity, Thought, and Technology, and this ceremony was a concrete testimony to this vision.
Amid touching moments and deep reflections, we applauded extraordinary personalities. Such as Antonio Albanese, Claudio Bisio, Paola Cortellesi, Michele Riondino, Francesca Benedetti, Mariska Hargitay, Pilar Fogliati, Leonardo Lidi, Giorgio Colangeli, Miriam Leone, and many others.
Under the guidance of Carla Tiboni, who passionately carries on her father Edoardo’s legacy, the Flaiano Award continues to inspire, combining tradition and innovation in respect of our rich Italian culture.
